Hi Everyone,

"It is almost September and on September 30, 2020, we are opening. It began with a trip to Orlando in February and let me tell you what has transpired since the Pandemic shut things down. It seems like an eternity. Let me trace what I have been doing and why Real Second Chance is so vital to Detroit and the surrounding area.

First, yes, we have been locked up and have become strangely connected to Zoom, which was so new to all of us. To say that I missed being with my Christian friends and not  being able to hug them, is a huge understatement. My faith is about being involved, being personal in helping, and showing how much I care for everyone who lives here. Zoom is not my style, but I understand why we were pointed to that vehicle to communicate.

Second, there are still as many felons, and with the turmoil we have had across our country, some of it here, we need to make sure we haven't lost sight of the message of Real Second Chance ("RSC"). There are many reasons for unrest, some valid, some political, some very selfish. But for those who want to return to society and make America a better place, RSC is waiting to help. After major impacts in Orlando and Las Vegas, Detroit is ready to take some of these well-intentioned people and help them become role models for their families and the neighborhood they have come from.

Third, I believe this country is at a crossroads. RSC was formed on Christian principles and each day I awake, I see more and more attacks on our mission and the people trying to practice their faith and make their communities a better place. RSC gives a path to once again show the value of our message with real results. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are given back to the community every time RSC creates a successful ex-felon entrepreneur. So, RSC's achievements are measurable in dollars and cents. Although RSC measures its results in helping people who need help, its impact can change the way neighborhoods function, both economically and socially.

Fourth, it just feels good to help others who need help. And returning felons, many with minor infractions, are human beings too. We all have made mistakes, but most of us haven't had to carry the burden of being known as a felon. RSC's impact can be major.!"
